of roots and blossoms I
of roots and blossoms I
she climbs cherry trees,
falls and scrapes her knees.
prays petals on the bloody bits.
baby mushrooms on her fingertips,
nauseous from too much
freshly squeezed grape juice.
eats tomatoes like candy
straight from the vine.
her breakfast and first memory.
dirt under her fingernails divine.
her dreams laced with the scent
of ripe august afternoon.she stacks rocks
as she dreams of the moon.she wrinkles her nose
when there’s too many rhymes.
she likes her poetry wild
like her dandelion crown.

i loved creating these sweet little pieces that brought up all the memories of growing up connected to the land of my ancestors. pairs beautifully with “of roots & blossoms II”.
one of 30 mixed media paintings in the series “under the giant trees” inspired by plant medicine and nature friends.
amongst the delectable textures of these paintings, you will find ethereal glimpses of tea, roses, poppies, cannabis, mushroomiez of all kinds, spider webs, chamomile, crows, antlers, and more.
