“poetry is a deal of joy and pain and wonder, with a dash of the dictionary. “

today i invite you to play with found poetry.
if you are not familiar with it already, found poetry (or erasure poetry) is created by selecting words, and phrases from an existing text, and reframing them into a more condensed form that speaks to you - a sort of word collage.
you can create found poetry by cutting out the words and rearranging them, crossing out the words that don’t stand out directly on the page, circling the words that stand out, and in any way that feels good to you. i am showing you sending, and burning with incense as two of my favorite ways to play with found poetry.
so grab a few pages from an old book that you don’t mind tearing apart, or from a magazine, some simple art supplies, and get exploring. it’s intriguing to see what stands out from the page. look with eyes of wonder and stay open to magic. you might find a special message from the universe.
if you’d like to keep the poetic journey going, you could add your poem to a collage, or adorn your poem page with drawings or painting.
happy findings!
love,
-anca.
