hello, tribe!
today i want to share a fun practice for getting out of your head, grounding into your body, moving stagnant energy, and inviting your inner artist to come out and play.
there is nothing quite like non-linear movement to quickly help you tap into your creative flow - that raw and wild energy that is the source of all creativity.
if you're feeling stuck, put a favorite song on, and dance your heart out.
or, you can do this:
rip a large piece of craft paper (or any other large roll of paper), or raw canvas, and tape it to the wall or the floor. gather your supplies: paint, charcoal, pastels, crayons... start making marks in large sweeping movements - with zero concern for what it looks like.
use brushes, palette knives, sticks or even your hands if you'd like, fling a string soaked in paint at the paper, claw at the layers building up, sway every which way feels good in your body and dance with the paint.
that's it. have fun! or rather, feel what you are feeling. i was moving some pain and abandonment wounds in my recorded practice, hence the serious face.
love,
-anca.
PS. if you don't have any supplies on hand, you can go outside, find a big stick, and use it to make large sweeping marks on the ground. the movement is what matters. and remember to breathe.
