let’s take a few days to prepare for he{art} PORTAL.
here is your first assignment:
imagine your absolutely perfect dream creative life - where you have overcome all the limitations and blocks and you are living your most epic and aligned with your passion and purpose life. the dream has to be aligned with your heart, and not what they tell you success should look like: wether you are a "successful" career artist, exhibiting in galleries around the world, and traveling to give talks, or having a small sustainable etsy shop for your work to be shared so you can be supported in creating more of what you are here uniquely here to create, or simply being able to playfully explore and experiment daily with whatever media speaks to you at the moment in your little dream studio. it's your dream, and nobody else's "shoulds" belong in it.
a simple way to picture this, is to sit down and imagine a day in that ideal creative life dream - one that incorporates elements of all of the things that make it epic to you, and all the things that ideal version of you is doing to make it an artful life.
sit down and flesh out this vision in your journal every single day this coming week. include not just the juicy details about that day, but also how you are feeling as you go through it.
writing out your vision in the present tense, and really embodying the feelings of what it's like to be in it, is an incredibly powerful practice. it enables you to start taking the actions necessary to create that vision, rather than staying with the feelings and actions of all the beliefs that limit you.
the "how" to get there is surprisingly, but truly, not as important as the what and the why. your ideal creative life is unique to you. although you will acquire helpful tools along the way, a lot of the "how" you will discover and create on your own, in alignment with your own heart and desires and unique way of expressing yourself in the world. you learn the path there, by first becoming super intimate with your vision and the why behind it, embodying the feelings of what it would be like to inhabit that vision, and consistently taking the kind of action that sustains the emotional state of already being there. acting as if you area already there, is crucial to bringing that vision to reality.
in this game of fake it till you make it, i am not asking you to bypass the difficult feelings that arise when you think of all the blocks in the way. mother yourself through those feelings. acknowledge how the fear and resistance is trying to protect you. but don't dwell on it. celebrate your brave actions.
to expand into your courage and commitment to your vision even more, go live in the he{art} PORTAL facebook group, introduce yourself, and talk about a day in your ideal creative life that you just envisioned.
taking brave action is a requirement for creating the artful life of your dreams. you may never become completely fearless. but you can make friends with your fear, discern between fear that is truly protecting you from the voices that "should on you" and actions that are not right for you and unaligned with your unique purpose, and the things that will propel you forward into that beautiful vision. bravery is key. and so is consistency - little aligned actions on a consistent basis, every day if you can.
